Bongo Boots at Science & Industry Museum

November 13, 2018

Following on from the success of our last performance at Manchester's Museum of Science & Industry in July, we were commissioned to produce another live presentation on the theme of Power for their October event.

We knew we wanted to finally create our long-imagined invention of Bongo Boots for the event, and so made a diorama of Thunder Fest - a fictious music festival we headlined with our wearable instruments after a storm caused the other equipment to blow away.

Various elements of the diorama were controlled by the audience through their phones - they could move the cloud with augmented reality arrows across the festival site, release the angry cloud and it's lightning (sparker attached), control the fan to blow a gale, and turn a pump on to have the rain pour down onto the stage - all with FDS-made sound effects and augmented reality characters.

Here's some highlights of the onstage storm.

Even Thunder Fest had blown away, we were still able to perform our headline slot with our wearable music suits and brand new Bongo Boots. We'll make a full video on how these were made, but in the meantime you can enjoy watching Pete exercise for the first time in a while as he runs through the audience at MOSI to make a beat.
